NASA-MA's MARCH VIR

NASA-MA's second event is coming up quick.

Next weekend NASA-MA will be running the Full course at beautiful VIR. Unfortunetaly the Honda Challenge Paddock will be a little thin with Mike Harris the only race signed up as of today. H1 driver Kevin Helms and Hondaworks will be heading down to St. Petersburg for rounds 1 & 2 of World Challenge. H1 driver John Oldt is out for this weekend but will be back with a vengence for Summit Point in April. H2 driver Erik Olson will be down in St. Pete helping out the Hondaworks team. Two other MA Honda Challenge racers will be in their garages working on their cars prepping them for future Honda Challenge races, mainly the much anticipated HYPER-Fest 2010 which will be held June 19th & 20th at Summit Point Raceway. Be sure to come out and enjoy the fun, sun, and high reving action as Honda Challenge always puts on a great show at HYPER-Fest.

April 10 - 11 at the North Carolina Center for Automotive Research in Garysville, NC

April 17 - 18 at New Jersey Motorsports Park on the Lightning Course in Millville, NJ

April 17 - 18 at Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, WV.

Honda Challenge now Up

Feb. VIR 2010

The first event for the NASA MA was held on Feb. 19-21st. Friday was an open track day and Competition School that saw the #75 H1 Honda S2000 of John Oldt and the #10 H2 Honda Civic of Erik Olson out breaking in new engines an Sander Marques sucessfully completing the requirements to get his provisional race license. Jonathan Baker didn't have the best luck on Friday with his engine giving up. He's not sure the exact problem but I'm sure he will have it up and running for April.

Saturday was run on the Full course where Kevin Helms in the #05 H1 EK Honda Civic run strongwith a 2:09.987 to take first in the Honda Challenge H1 Class. It didn't come easy though. First the igniter in his distributor blew out, then he experienced electrical problems. With the help of Jonathan Baker who gave Kevin the ignitor from his distributor and the rest of the Honda Challenge crew Kevin was able to track down the problem and run on Sunday. John Oldt in the #75 Honda S2000 ran strong with a 2:13.908 and finished 2nd in H1. Erik Olson in the #10 H2 EG Honda Civic ran very strong with a fast lap of 2:14.958.

Sunday was run on the North course where again Kevin Helms ran very strong with a 1:41.291. John Oldt and Erik Olson also ran strong with a 1:43.226 and 1:44:058 respectively.
